Qantas Unveils New Business-Class Amenity Kits for Travelers

Qantas has introduced a new series of amenity kits for its international business-class passengers. Launched on May 1, the kits were created in collaboration with Australian artists, photographers and digital creators and are intended to combine practical use with distinctive, locally inspired design.

The collection includes gender-specific options — two styles marketed toward men and two toward women — and in total features 16 unique designs. Each design highlights a different artist’s work, reflecting a wide range of visual approaches and cultural perspectives.

One of the female designs features Jacob Leary’s piece “Bubblegum Dystopia,” while a male-design bag showcases Liam Snootle’s “No Queen Blues/Unwind.” Together these examples signal the variety on offer, from bold contemporary illustrations to more subtle photographic and abstract treatments.

Qantas says it partnered with professional contemporary art curators in Australia to select contributions from 16 artists working across pop culture, photography, fine art, abstract landscape, Indigenous art and textile design. The curation aims to represent diverse creative voices and present a cross-section of Australian visual practice to an international audience.

The airline’s objective is twofold: to promote contemporary Australian artists and to offer passengers a practical souvenir. Amenity kits are a familiar part of the business-class experience, and Qantas notes many customers repurpose them after a flight as makeup bags, evening clutches or phone pouches, extending the visibility of the designs beyond the aircraft.

“Along with inflight pyjamas, amenity kits are an important part of the international Business class experience. Customers value the functionality of our kits and often use them long after their flight,” said Olivia Wirth, executive of Brand, Marketing and Corporate Affairs at Qantas Group.

The new kits are positioned to enhance the onboard experience while showcasing Australian creativity to travelers who may keep the pieces as practical mementos. By combining utility with curated artwork, Qantas aims to make a lasting impression and support the artists behind each design.
