Emirates Adds Direct Dubai–Athens–Newark Route: Flights & Schedule

Emirates has announced a new daily service linking Dubai (DXB) and Newark (EWR) with a stop in Athens (ATH).

The route, operating under fifth-freedom rights, will begin on March 12 using a Boeing 777-300ER configured with eight first-class seats, 42 business-class seats and 304 economy seats.

“The Greek government and Athens International Airport approached Emirates some time ago to consider serving the route between Athens and New York,” said Tim Clark, president of Emirates. “After careful review, Emirates concluded that extending one of our Dubai–Athens flights to Newark would be commercially and operationally feasible. We are pleased to be able to help meet a strong consumer need long neglected by other airlines, and we would like to thank the authorities and our partners in both the United States and Greece for their support of the new route.”

Flight EK209 will depart Dubai at 10:50 a.m., arrive in Athens at 2:25 p.m., then depart Athens at 4:40 p.m. and land in Newark at 10:00 p.m. The return flight, EK210, will depart Newark at 11:45 p.m., land in Athens at 3:05 p.m. the following day, and then depart Athens at 5:10 p.m. to arrive in Dubai at 11:50 p.m.

This service will supplement Emirates’ existing schedule of four daily flights between Dubai and New York’s JFK airport, offering passengers an additional travel option between the Middle East, Greece and the United States.
