United Airlines: Celebrate the Ultimate Summer Travel Moments

United Airlines announced it achieved the best summer on-time performance in company history this year. The record covers travel between June 1 and Aug. 31, when more than 76 percent of both mainline and regional flights arrived on schedule. That marks a 5 percent improvement compared with the previous summer and a 10 percent increase versus summer 2014.

“Our focus on delivering reliable, on-time service to our customers continues to result in record-breaking operational performance across our system,” said Greg Hart, chief operating officer and executive vice president of United Airlines. “Thanks to the hard work of our entire team, we flew more customers to their destinations on time this summer, despite encountering more days of challenging weather than in previous years.”

United also recorded its strongest performance ever during the July 4 holiday travel period. The airline attributes these gains to several operational changes, including improved scheduling, refined crew and employee operations, and new technology that enhances the company’s ability to forecast and respond to weather disruptions.

By optimizing schedules and staffing, United has reduced delays caused by missed connections and insufficient ramp or gate coverage. Investments in predictive tools allow operations teams to anticipate weather impacts earlier and re-route aircraft or reposition crews more effectively, minimizing ripple effects across the network.

These efforts produced measurable results across the system, improving reliability for passengers and reducing the number of delays that cascade through the daily schedule. United’s leadership highlighted that continuing to refine these operational practices and technology integrations will remain a priority to sustain and build on this momentum.
