Iberia has launched a new non-stop route between San Francisco (SFO) and Madrid (MAD), becoming the only airline to offer direct flights on this city pair.
The service is seasonal and operates three times weekly — Monday, Wednesday and Friday — through September 28. From Madrid, travelers gain convenient connections to 22 Spanish cities, 36 European destinations and four locations in Africa and the Middle East, expanding options for both leisure and business passengers.
The route is flown on Iberia’s Airbus A330-200, a twin-engine wide-body aircraft featuring updated cabin layouts in both business and economy classes. The aircraft provides a modern onboard experience suitable for the transatlantic journey.
“San Francisco is our sixth gateway in the United States and Iberia’s flight to Madrid will be the only non-stop route linking both cities,” said Luis Gallego, chairman and CEO of Iberia. “Our flights will be a good choice for many customers departing from, or traveling to, Spain and other Southern European destinations.”
Airport officials also welcomed the new service. “We are proud that Iberia has chosen SFO as their newest destination in the United States,” said Ivar C. Satero, airport director at San Francisco International Airport. “Non-stop flights between Spain and San Francisco are highly sought-after, and I fully expect this new service to be a success. Our thanks and congratulations go out to the entire Iberia team.”
