Aeromexico Premier Class: What to Expect on Your Flight

On the Ground: My flight out of Mexico City was on a Friday evening. Heavy traffic meant I reached the airport only 45 minutes before boarding for an international departure. I sprinted into the terminal and was fortunate to be checked in within minutes. Security moved quickly, as it often does. The Aeromexico lounge sits on the terminal’s second floor beneath a glass ceiling that lets in ample natural light. The space is large enough for many travelers, though the comfortable sofas and chairs around the bar fill up fast. I grabbed a ginger ale and some crackers, then headed to my gate just minutes before the pre-boarding announcement.

Pre-Flight: Premier Class passengers boarded first, and I was promptly shown to my window seat. The flight attendant spoke fluent English and offered pre-flight beverages; the chilled Champagne was a pleasant way to begin the trip.

In-Flight: The Boeing 737 operating this route was a seasoned aircraft with the familiar 2-2 seating layout. Aeromexico’s larger seats include adjustable headrests and a satisfying recline. Large windows made it easy to watch the sunset en route. There were no auxiliary power outlets available, but my phone and laptop held enough charge for the short flight. During the flight I watched television on shared overhead screens and was offered a selection of top-shelf spirits alongside a dish of mixed nuts.

Dinner service began about an hour and a half after takeoff. I selected a pasta dish with creamy Alfredo and broccoli. Dessert was a small piece of chocolate paired with more Champagne—ideal for satisfying a sweet tooth. After the meal service was cleared and with roughly an hour left in the journey, the cabin was dimmed and I managed to rest for a while.

The Experience: From check-in through boarding and onboard service, the Aeromexico staff were consistently professional and courteous. They were friendly without being intrusive, accommodating, and bilingual, which made the trip smooth and enjoyable. While the aircraft showed signs of age and could benefit from modernization, the short flight from Mexico City to Los Angeles was comfortable and hassle-free. I would happily fly this route again.
