United Airlines Opens New LaGuardia Terminal: What Travelers Need to Know

United Airlines has shifted its operations to the Eastern Concourse of Terminal B at LaGuardia Airport. The newly completed $4 billion, 1.3 million-square-foot terminal features high ceilings, abundant natural light and a curated collection of 13 New York City-inspired retail and dining outlets. Passengers will find expanded seating areas, complimentary WiFi, a children’s play zone and larger, modern restrooms designed for greater comfort and convenience.

At the heart of United’s presence in the new concourse is a refreshed United Club located near the gates. Spanning 10,500 square feet—about 30 percent larger than United’s former LaGuardia club—the lounge accommodates more than 200 guests and offers sweeping views of the tarmac. The space includes a New York–inspired dining menu, dedicated wellness rooms and complimentary WiFi, creating a more relaxed, functional environment for both leisure and business travelers.

Jill Kaplan, United Airlines’ president for New York and New Jersey, highlighted the significance of the move: “United customers depend on LaGuardia for frequent service to key business cities such as Chicago and Denver, and the new Terminal B represents a huge improvement in the facilities we are able to provide, including a gorgeous new United Club. A world-class city like New York deserves a state-of-the-art airport — which is why we are absolutely thrilled to be moving our operations to the spectacular new Terminal B Eastern Concourse at LaGuardia Airport.”

Rick Cotton, executive director of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, noted that this transition is a major milestone in LaGuardia’s broader transformation. “The move of United and its passengers into the first new concourse at Terminal B marks another key milestone of the $8 billion redevelopment of an entirely new LaGuardia Airport,” he said. Cotton emphasized that the project advances a long-term vision for a 21st-century airport while maintaining full operations at LaGuardia and serving record numbers of travelers.

The upgraded terminal and expanded lounge reflect ongoing investments in passenger experience, operational efficiency and amenities tailored to modern travel needs. Travelers can expect streamlined gate areas, enhanced dining and shopping options reflecting New York’s character, and improved facilities that support families and business travelers alike. The improvements aim to reduce congestion, speed connections and make the airport environment more pleasant during both peak and off-peak hours.

United’s larger club and the new concourse are part of a coordinated effort among carriers, airport authorities and concession partners to elevate LaGuardia’s profile as a modern, passenger-focused gateway. With updated infrastructure and expanded services, the airport is positioned to better accommodate growing demand while delivering a more comfortable, efficient travel experience for visitors to and from New York.
