Delta Air Lines has announced an expansion of its Delta Shuttle service to the West Coast, introducing hourly nonstop flights between Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and San Francisco International Airport (SFO). The new shuttle schedule begins Sept. 3 and will operate Monday through Friday, departing at the top of each hour from 7 a.m.
Flights will be operated by Delta Connection partner Compass Airlines using Embraer E-175 aircraft. The cabin configuration includes 12 first-class seats, 12 premium-economy seats, and 52 economy seats, providing a balanced product for business and leisure travelers. Delta Shuttle on this route will include dedicated check-in counters and a streamlined check-in window that allows passengers to check in as close as 30 minutes before departure.
Tim Mapes, senior vice president of marketing for Delta, highlighted the service’s purpose: “Our new Delta Shuttle on the West Coast is designed to make doing business between Los Angeles and San Francisco easier. And with a product that’s tailored to California, we’re also making business travel more enjoyable and productive.” Mapes also noted Delta’s investments in Los Angeles, including the ongoing transformation of Terminal 5 and schedule improvements aimed at meeting customer needs.
The West Coast shuttle complements Delta’s existing shuttle network on the East Coast, where the airline currently operates frequent shuttle routes connecting New York LaGuardia (LGA) with Boston (BOS) and Chicago O’Hare (ORD) with Washington Reagan National (DCA).
