Alaska Airlines to Open New Lounge at San Francisco International

Alaska Airlines will open a new luxury lounge at San Francisco International Airport next year, offering panoramic views of San Francisco Bay and a comfortable retreat for travelers.

The upcoming 8,500-square-foot Alaska Lounge will be located on the top floor of Terminal 2, marking the airline’s first lounge in this terminal. Designed with regional touches, the space will feature a barista station serving Starbucks coffee, afternoon tapas, made-to-order meals, West Coast wines and locally brewed draft beers. Guests can also enjoy high-speed WiFi, a cozy fireplace seating area and concierge services to enhance their airport experience.

“SFO is our second-largest hub with an average of 150,000 passengers flying on a daily basis, and we want to ensure airport visitors can rest, relax and enjoy our wide array of lounge offerings,” said Annabel Chang, vice president, Bay Area, Alaska Airlines.

The new San Francisco lounge follows the airline’s recent and upcoming lounge investments. Its regional concept and amenities are consistent with the New York (JFK) lounge that opened in April 2018 and the flagship lounge at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport planned for debut in June 2019. Alaska Airlines is also upgrading existing lounges in Portland (PDX), Anchorage (ANC), Los Angeles (LAX) and Seattle (SEA), reflecting a broader push to enhance passenger comfort and service across its network.

With spacious seating, food and beverage options tailored to the West Coast, and modern conveniences such as fast WiFi and concierge support, the Terminal 2 lounge aims to provide a relaxing, service-focused alternative to the busy airport terminal. Travelers flying through San Francisco can expect a refined pre-flight environment that highlights local flavors and thoughtful amenities.

The lounge’s location on the terminal’s top floor will take advantage of elevated views and natural light, creating an inviting atmosphere for business and leisure travelers alike. By combining regional cuisine and beverages with practical services—charging stations, comfortable work areas and reliable internet—the lounge is positioned to meet diverse traveler needs while reflecting Alaska Airlines’ ongoing investments in airport hospitality.
