Hawaiian Airlines Suspends Flights to Beijing — What Travelers Need to Know

Hawaiian Airlines is suspending its direct service to Beijing (PEK) effective October 11. The route, operated with a 278-seat Airbus A330-200, will be temporarily discontinued and the aircraft reassigned to other routes. Passengers holding tickets for flights scheduled after the suspension date will be offered a full refund or the opportunity to travel on an earlier flight.

The carrier has stated its intent to resume service to Beijing in the future.

“These decisions are never easy and this one is especially difficult because we believe in China’s future as a robust market for the Hawaiian vacation experience and we will continue to market one-stop options to Honolulu from cities throughout China on our airline partners,” said Peter Ingram, president and CEO of Hawaiian Airlines.

Ingram added that the airline values the relationships built with Chinese customers: “We have enjoyed sharing our Hawaiian hospitality with thousands of our Chinese guests, and will continue to invest in raising awareness of the beauty and grace of the Hawaiian Islands with a determination to return to China with non-stop service. In the meantime, we will re-deploy our aircraft to pursue other opportunities consistent with Hawaiian’s expansion plans.”

The temporary pause reflects the airline’s operational and commercial assessment while maintaining a commitment to restore nonstop flights to Beijing when conditions support sustainable demand. Affected travelers are advised to contact Hawaiian Airlines directly to arrange refunds or alternative travel options.
