Rosewood Hotels & Resorts has been appointed to manage a new ultra-luxury hotel on Grosvenor Square in London’s Mayfair, marking the brand’s second property in the city and its sixth in Europe.
“We are thrilled to embark on this exciting new venture, which will bring new life to this iconic building. The prestigious Mayfair neighbourhood embodies elegance, culture, and sophistication, making it the ideal location for Rosewood’s second property in London,” said Sonia Cheng, CEO of Rosewood Hotel Group. “London is one of Europe’s most sought-after destinations, offering a rare mix of historic charm and contemporary comforts that suit a wide range of experiences.”
The hotel will occupy the landmark building that has long served as the U.S. Embassy and will feature 137 rooms, multiple dining venues including five gourmet restaurants, and a signature spa. Guests will also benefit from six flagship retail spaces and a grand ballroom designed to accommodate up to 1,000 attendees, positioning the property as a prominent destination for both leisure and large-scale events.
Renowned British architect Sir David Chipperfield will lead the design, guiding a sensitive reimagining of the mid-20th-century structure. The plans emphasize elegant interior interventions while respecting and preserving the building’s historic fabric.
This appointment follows Rosewood’s recent reopening of Hôtel de Crillon, A Rosewood Hotel in Paris, underscoring the group’s ongoing expansion and commitment to restoring and operating exceptional luxury hotels in Europe’s most iconic cities.
