Airports nationwide are experiencing longer security lines that cause some travelers to miss flights. To help ease this congestion, several airlines have introduced measures to speed screening for frequent passengers. One example is JetBlue, which offered a benefit to members of its loyalty program: free enrollment in TSA PreCheck, the Transportation Security Administration program that lets eligible travelers use expedited security lanes.
TSA PreCheck normally requires an $85 application fee and an in-person interview at an enrollment center. JetBlue’s promotion waived the application fee for qualifying TrueBlue members who achieve Mosaic status. Mosaic is earned by flying at least 15,000 base flight miles or completing 30 qualifying flight segments in a single calendar year.
Qualified TrueBlue Mosaic members will receive a coupon code by email that covers the $85 enrollment charge. The coupon can be used for TSA PreCheck enrollment through the end of September. Even with the fee waived, members must still schedule and complete the mandatory in-person interview with TSA to receive a Known Traveler Number (KTN). The KTN is required to access TSA PreCheck lanes at airport security checkpoints.
This type of partnership addresses longer wait times by encouraging travelers who fly frequently to enroll in trusted-traveler programs. When more eligible passengers use TSA PreCheck, security lines for standard screening can move more smoothly, and frequent flyers benefit from expedited screening procedures such as leaving shoes and light jackets on and keeping laptops in cases in many U.S. airports.
For TrueBlue members interested in this offer, watch your email for the coupon code and follow the TSA enrollment instructions to complete the process. Remember that receiving the coupon only waives the application fee; you must still attend and clear the in-person appointment to obtain your Known Traveler Number and begin using TSA PreCheck at security checkpoints.
