Arrival/Check-in: I took a cab from SFO to the Four Seasons in the Yerba Buena cultural district, a short walk from Union Square and the Financial District. The lobby is located on an upper floor, and staff were readily available to direct me. Check-in was efficient and I was in my suite within minutes. Traveling light with a small roller bag, I did not require porter assistance, though staff were friendly and attentive. (27/30)
Guest Quarters: The suite featured a master bedroom with a king-sized bed and the standard Four Seasons furnishings, including a large armoire with a TV. A long hallway led to the bedroom on the right and a spacious living room at the end. I spent most of my time in the living room, which was decorated in a warm mustard yellow. A large sofa faced an entertainment center with a flat-screen TV. The desk was adequate for laptop work; Wi-Fi was offered for $12.95 per day. A small dining table with chairs added convenience—if a kitchen were available, I could have stayed even longer.
The bedroom connected to a generous bathroom with a large shower stall, a tub, and double sinks; the toilet was in a separate enclosed area. Heavy drapes allowed the room to be darkened for late sleeping, though I didn’t take advantage of that on this visit. (28/30)
Services/Amenities: I enjoyed lunch in Seasons, a casual yet elegant restaurant known for seafood and prime cuts—the Crab Louie salad was particularly good. Lunchtime was lively with business diners and locals. Seasons also offers an 18-seat private dining room called Windows, available by reservation. I met clients in the Seasons Bar and Lounge and appreciated chatting with locals to learn more about the city. Room service breakfast arrived quickly and was hot. One minor drawback was the absence of an in-room coffeemaker, a feature the hotel plans to add during upcoming renovations. (38/40)
The Experience: My stay made it easy to visit San Francisco highlights like Fisherman’s Wharf and to view Alcatraz Island. From the suite I could see the Museum of Modern Art. The Four Seasons’ central location is excellent for dining and sightseeing, making it a solid choice for both business and leisure travelers.
