Kimpton Opens Its 10th Washington, D.C. Hotel and Restaurant

Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants will open its tenth Washington, D.C. property in spring 2016. The 154-room hotel, currently operating as the Savoy Suites Hotel, is undergoing a comprehensive multimillion-dollar renovation and rebrand. Once complete, the property will join the Kimpton portfolio as the Glover Park Hotel.

The renovation covers every aspect of the property: guestrooms will be redesigned for modern comfort; public areas will receive refreshed finishes and furnishings; and restaurants, outdoor areas and event spaces will be reimagined to support both casual and formal gatherings. The transformation aims to offer a boutique experience that reflects the neighborhood’s character while delivering Kimpton’s signature hospitality.

Guestroom upgrades focus on thoughtful layouts, contemporary materials and enhanced amenities to appeal to business and leisure travelers alike. Public spaces will be tailored to encourage social interaction, with new seating arrangements, updated lighting and design details that create a welcoming atmosphere throughout the hotel.

Dining will be elevated with a full-service destination restaurant intended to become a neighborhood favorite. The restaurant’s concept will emphasize approachable, well-crafted cuisine and a comfortable dining environment designed to serve hotel guests and local residents.

For meetings and events, the hotel will introduce a bright, 1,860-square-foot ballroom that benefits from abundant natural light. The flexible space is designed to accommodate a variety of functions, from corporate meetings to social celebrations, and can host up to 150 guests. Adjacent outdoor areas will be restored and improved to provide additional options for receptions, alfresco dining and private gatherings.

Wellness amenities will include a boutique-style fitness center operated by Graham King’s Urban Athletic Club, offering modern equipment and a layout suited to quick workouts as well as longer fitness routines. The fitness space is being designed to complement the hotel’s overall aesthetic while meeting contemporary guest expectations for health and wellness services.

In renovating the property, Kimpton aims to balance preservation and innovation, retaining the site’s neighborhood ties while introducing design and service elements that elevate the guest experience. The makeover is intended to integrate seamlessly with Glover Park’s streetscape, creating a neighborhood hotel that both visitors and locals will embrace.

“We believe that the same way Charles Glover refashioned the city, the Kimpton Glover Park Hotel will transform hospitality in this part of Northwest Washington when it debuts this coming spring,” said Matthew Hurlburt, area director of operations, mid-Atlantic hotels, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants.

When it opens as the Glover Park Hotel, the property will mark Kimpton’s continued expansion in the D.C. market, reflecting the company’s focus on distinct, locally rooted hotels. The project’s scope—from redesigned rooms and refreshed public areas to new dining, event and fitness offerings—underscores the brand’s commitment to delivering standout hospitality experiences that resonate with both travelers and neighborhood residents.

The renovation timeline targets a spring 2016 opening. Throughout the process, the property will receive upgrades to infrastructure, interior finishes and guest services to ensure a smooth transition into the Kimpton portfolio. These improvements are intended to create a cohesive, guest-centered hotel that honors the history of its location while presenting a contemporary, design-forward experience.
