Park Hyatt Vienna Review: Luxury City Stay Near Vienna State Opera

ARRIVAL/CHECK IN: From the moment Park Hyatt Vienna appeared on my itinerary, I anticipated this visit. Housed a century ago in the former Bank of Austria, the building retains a solid, dignified presence while offering refined modern comforts. Located within easy walking distance of the Goldenes Quartier, St. Stephen’s Cathedral and the Hofburg Palace, the hotel provided an ideal base for exploring Vienna’s most iconic sights between appointments and leisure time.

My arrival and check-in were quick and effortless. The staff were welcoming and the concierge invited me to attend a media reception that afternoon showcasing the hotel’s newly renovated penthouse suite.

GUEST QUARTERS: Access to my King Deluxe room required two key-card swipes, underscoring the hotel’s attention to privacy and security. The room’s linear layout placed the bed toward the back and a chaise sofa at its foot, followed by a mother-of-pearl coffee table, an armchair and a discreet pop-up flat-screen television near the entrance. Rich gold accents, dark woods and carefully selected artwork balanced Viennese tradition with contemporary design.

The spacious five-piece bathroom featured dual vanities positioned on either side of the entry corridor, creating separate zones for convenience and privacy. A walk-in closet along the corridor offered ample storage and a distinct dressing area separate from the sleeping and bathing spaces.

A thoughtful welcome amenity—brut Champagne on ice and a box of macarons—was waiting on arrival and added a warm, personal touch to the stay.

SERVICES/AMENITIES: At the heart of the hotel, Bank Brasserie & Bar serves breakfast, lunch and dinner within the original banking hall. The space is striking: white marble, stained glass, coffered ceilings and refined finishes create a grand yet inviting atmosphere where historical architecture meets contemporary hospitality.

During my stay I sampled the full European breakfast buffet, enjoying attentive service and high-quality ingredients while taking in the elegant surroundings. For lighter fare and pastries, Café Am Hof and The Bolliparadise offer desserts, snacks and à la carte choices that reflect Viennese culinary traditions. The hotel also features Rosanno Ferretti Hairspa and Arany Spa, providing grooming, beauty and wellness treatments for guests seeking relaxation and restoration.

TOP TAKEAWAYS:

  • Contemporary five-star luxury set within a historic landmark
