Qatar Airways recently inaugurated flights to Da Nang, Vietnam (DAD). The new service operates four times weekly using a Boeing 787-8, configured with 22 business-class seats and 232 economy seats. This addition strengthens Qatar Airways’ presence in Vietnam and improves connectivity for travelers to central Vietnam.
With the Da Nang route, Qatar Airways now serves Vietnam through three gateways. The carrier already operates twice-daily flights to Hanoi (HAN) and up to ten weekly flights to Ho Chi Minh City (SGN). Together, these services provide a total of 28 scheduled passenger flights per week to destinations across Vietnam, broadening options for both leisure and business travelers.
Akbar Al Baker, Group Chief Executive of Qatar Airways Group, highlighted the strategic importance of the move: “We are pleased to expand our network in Vietnam with the launch of our third gateway into this beautiful country. Adding Da Nang demonstrates our ongoing commitment to the Far East market, which is of great significance to Qatar Airways. This new route will enable travelers to and from central Vietnam to experience our award-winning service and product. We take pride in facilitating travel and trade for Vietnamese and international businesses.”
Qatar Airways has served Ho Chi Minh City since 2007 and began flights to Hanoi in 2010. The carrier’s long-standing presence in Vietnam has supported tourism growth and business links between Vietnam and the Middle East, and the new Da Nang connection further reinforces those ties.
Nguyen Dinh Thao, Vietnamese Ambassador to the State of Qatar, noted the broader diplomatic context for the launch: “This year marks the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Qatar, and we are delighted to welcome Qatar Airways to Da Nang as its third Vietnamese destination. The direct flight to Doha will play a crucial role in connecting passengers and cargo from central Vietnam to global markets.”
Da Nang is an emerging hub for tourism and trade in central Vietnam, known for its beaches, cultural attractions and growing business activity. The direct link to Doha opens more convenient connections for international travelers, encouraging tourism flows and easing business travel. The route is likely to be attractive to visitors heading to nearby heritage sites, coastal resorts, and the Central Highlands.
By operating the Boeing 787-8 on the Da Nang route, Qatar Airways offers a long-range, fuel-efficient aircraft with a passenger-friendly cabin environment. The configuration supports a mix of premium and economy travelers, providing options for tourists and corporate passengers alike. Frequent flyer and connectivity benefits via Doha’s Hamad International Airport also make this route a practical choice for onward connections throughout Qatar Airways’ global network.
Overall, the introduction of Da Nang into Qatar Airways’ schedule reinforces the airline’s regional strategy and provides a direct, modern air link between central Vietnam and the Middle East. Travelers and businesses in central Vietnam now have improved access to international destinations, while Qatar Airways strengthens its role as a connector for passengers and cargo across continents.
