“Guests have made the 16-day Mighty Mississippi voyage between Minneapolis (Red Wing) and New Orleans one of our most popular itineraries, and we are pleased to reveal an even more immersive itinerary sailing to Pittsburgh that now incorporates the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers,” said Isis Ruiz, Chief Commercial Officer of American Queen Voyages. “Pittsburgh has a rich riverboat and sports history, and announcing the Grand Ohio & Upper Mississippi Rivers itinerary—featuring the city’s talented student-athletes and the American Queen in the shadow of Acrisure Stadium (formerly Heinz Field)—was a natural fit.”
The Grand Ohio & Upper Mississippi Rivers itinerary visits 10 states and blends scenic river travel with cultural and historical shore excursions. Highlights included with the voyage and available as premium experiences feature visits to the National Quilt Museum in Paducah, Kentucky; The Field of Dreams Experience in Dyersville, Iowa; the Anheuser-Busch museum and historic homes in St. Louis, Missouri; the Western Kentucky Botanical Garden; and the Madison Scenic Jet Boat Experience in Madison, Indiana.
Passengers can expect a mix of onboard comfort and curated shore programming designed to showcase regional traditions, local cuisine, and historic sites along both the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers. This extended itinerary provides more time ashore and additional opportunities to explore river towns, engage with local communities, and enjoy unique excursions that reflect the culture and heritage of each stop.
