Ritz-Carlton Announces Ambitious Global Expansion Plan

The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, L.L.C. announced plans to expand its global portfolio to 100 hotels and resorts by 2016. According to Herve Humler, president and chief operating officer, the company’s strong development pipeline reflects sustained demand for Ritz-Carlton services and experiences. He said the brand expects to remain the leading luxury hospitality name worldwide, particularly in Asia and the Middle East, as the portfolio grows.

Over the past year the company opened three new properties: Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Puerto Rico; The Ritz-Carlton, Abu Dhabi, a beachfront resort in the United Arab Emirates; and the brand’s first hotel in Vienna, Austria. Several additional openings are scheduled for the final quarter of the current year, including two hotels in China—The Ritz-Carlton, Chengdu and The Ritz-Carlton, Tianjin—along with The Ritz-Carlton, Aruba; The Ritz-Carlton, Herzliya in Israel; The Ritz-Carlton, Almaty in Kazakhstan; and The Ritz-Carlton, Bangalore in India.

Looking ahead, the company plans further international growth in 2014 with openings in Kyoto, Japan; Nanjing, China; Rabat, Morocco; Cairo, Egypt; Manesar, India; and Bali, Indonesia. In 2015 additional hotels and resorts are expected to debut in Cabo San Lucas, Muscat (Oman), Bali (Indonesia), Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam), Tunis (Tunisia), and Haikou (China).
