Four Seasons to Take Over Bahamas Resort Property

As of Nov. 30, Ocean Club on Paradise Island becomes The Ocean Club, A Four Seasons Resort, Bahamas. Opened in 1962, the resort is renowned for its five-mile beach, Versailles-inspired gardens, cuisine from a Michelin-starred chef and top-tier luxury amenities. Located near Nassau and originally a private estate, the property has long been a signature Bahamian destination and underwent significant renovations in 2014.

“The Ocean Club has long been one of the world’s great resorts and will be an extraordinary addition to our global portfolio as we extend our presence in the Caribbean,” says J. Allen Smith, president and CEO of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts. “We are proud to work in partnership with Access to bring luxury travelers a Four Seasons experience in the Bahamas. The genuine warmth of the Bahamian people matches perfectly with the personalized service that only Four Seasons can deliver, creating a truly authentic Caribbean experience unlike anything else on Paradise Island.”

Jonah Sonnenborn, head of real estate for Access Industries, which owns Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat, A Four Seasons Hotel and other premier properties, emphasizes the shared vision behind the transition: “Four Seasons shares our vision for a truly personalized luxury experience, with special sensitivity to the unique aspects of historic properties. The Ocean Club, like Access’ other iconic hotels, offers its guests an unparalleled location and boundless possibility for their experience at the resort. When we acquired it in 2014, we saw a wonderful opportunity to build on its rich legacy while looking ahead to its future. Following the success of our partnership in the south of France, Four Seasons was the natural choice to help elevate The Ocean Club to even greater renown.”

Under Four Seasons management, the resort will preserve its historic glamour while undergoing several enhancements designed to refine the guest experience and update facilities. Plans aim to balance respect for the property’s heritage—its landscaped grounds, classic architecture and storied past—with thoughtful upgrades to rooms, dining venues and service offerings. The goal is to deliver the signature Four Seasons standard of personalized service and attention to detail, while maintaining the distinctive character that has defined The Ocean Club for decades.

Guests can expect continuity in the resort’s defining features—extensive beachfront, elegant gardens and fine dining—paired with refreshed amenities and elevated service standards. By combining the resort’s established legacy with Four Seasons’ operational expertise, the property is positioned to attract returning guests and new visitors seeking a refined Caribbean escape on Paradise Island.
