TripAdvisor has announced plans to roll out a redesigned website and mobile experience later this year, focused on delivering a more personalized and community-driven travel platform. The updated site will introduce social features that make planning and booking trips more collaborative, enabling users to follow brands, influencers, publishers and friends to discover content and recommendations that matter to them.
One of the central additions is a Trips feature that lets users build detailed travel guides and itineraries. Travelers can create private plans for personal use or share full itineraries with others, making it easier to organize trips, save ideas and coordinate travel plans with companions.
“TripAdvisor is poised to disrupt the travel industry once again as we create a more personalized and connected community,” said Stephen Kaufer, CEO and co-founder of TripAdvisor. “The new TripAdvisor is the one travel site that brings together social-assistive tools, great content and our existing booking capabilities to merge the joy of planning and discovery into a single experience. We are assisting our members at each step of their journey as we become a more personalized, inspirational and useful TripAdvisor.”
The redesigned platform is currently in beta, with participation from more than 500 influencers, brands and publishers helping to shape the experience and contribute content. TripAdvisor’s decision to evolve the product follows research pointing to its growing influence on travel choices and spending. One study cited TripAdvisor’s role in influencing approximately $546 billion in tourism spending in the prior year. Other findings show that around 60 percent of travelers consult TripAdvisor during the planning and booking phases, and roughly 74 percent reference TripAdvisor when booking through hotel websites.
By integrating social discovery, curated content and existing booking tools, TripAdvisor aims to streamline how users find inspiration, plan details and complete bookings in one place. The new features emphasize community interaction and personalized recommendations while preserving TripAdvisor’s core strengths as a resource for trusted reviews and travel information.
As the beta progresses, users can expect incremental updates and expanded access as TripAdvisor refines social features, content integrations and itinerary tools based on feedback from partners and early adopters. The company positions the redesign as a step toward making travel planning more intuitive, social and tailored to individual interests.
