It’s no surprise that American Airlines serves major European hubs such as London (LHR), Paris (CDG) and Rome (FCO). This summer, however, the carrier is expanding its transatlantic network to include several growing travel destinations.
Starting this season, American Airlines will operate seasonal service to Reykjavik (KEF), Iceland; Budapest (BUD), Hungary; and Prague (PRG), Czech Republic, while also increasing flights to Venice (VCE), Italy. These routes will be available from primary U.S. gateways including Chicago O’Hare International Airport, Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport and Philadelphia International Airport.
The new Dallas–Reykjavik link launched this summer, opening convenient access to Iceland, a destination that has surged in popularity in recent years. With nonstop options, travelers can reach Reykjavik from parts of the United States in roughly five hours, making weekend escapes and short vacations more feasible.
Eastern European cities such as Prague and Budapest are drawing growing interest from American travelers as well. Both cities are known for rich history, vibrant culture and comparatively affordable costs, where the U.S. dollar stretches farther. American’s seasonal flights to Prague and Budapest will operate from Philadelphia, providing direct connections for passengers on the East Coast.
Venice will also see expanded service. In addition to the existing Philadelphia flights, American will add nonstop flights from Chicago, improving access for travelers in the Midwest who want to visit the city’s canals, architecture and heritage.
These route additions reflect American Airlines’ focus on connecting more U.S. cities directly to desirable overseas destinations, offering travelers more choices and convenient nonstop options. Whether planning a brief getaway to Iceland, exploring Eastern Europe, or visiting Italy’s iconic canals, passengers will benefit from increased frequency and new single-carrier itineraries from major U.S. airports.
As always, schedules and seasonal offerings can change, so passengers should check with the airline for the most current flight availability and times before booking. With these new and expanded routes, travelers have more opportunities to plan transatlantic trips that fit shorter timetables and varied budgets.
