British Airways Launches New In-Flight VR Experience for Passengers

British Airways now offers passengers a virtual reality preview of its Club World cabin when they check in at Heathrow Terminal 5. The check-in area features a 360-degree VR tour that showcases the cabin layout, lie-flat seats, bedding and dining options. Passengers who try the VR experience are also given the chance to upgrade to Club World.

Tom Stevens, Head of Customer at Heathrow for British Airways, said the airline is embracing new technology to enhance the airport experience. He noted that British Airways is the first U.K. carrier to introduce this VR offering and that customer response has been very positive, with many enjoying the immersive preview of the Club World cabin.

The VR headsets were supplied by Skylights, a technology start-up participating in the IAG Hangar 51 accelerator program. Stevens added that virtual technology presents many opportunities to improve the customer experience both on the ground and in the air.
