Munich Airport has opened a third passenger recreation area in Terminal 2. Designed to offer a calm, comfortable environment, the new space uses plants, soft lighting and quiet seating to help travelers relax between flights. Flight information displays are positioned so passengers can easily check departures and arrivals without leaving the tranquil setting.
The free recreation area, located near gates G43 and G44, provides seating for 28 people alongside 16 business stations equipped with power outlets for laptops, phones and tablets. Travelers can also borrow from a 600-book library supplied by Weltbild bookshops, giving passengers a chance to read or unwind while waiting.
Christian Wallner, managing director of T2BG—the Terminal 2 operating company jointly run by Munich Airport and Lufthansa—said the facility supports passenger comfort and contributes to the airport’s strong global reputation. By combining functional workspaces with restful areas, the recreation zone aims to meet the needs of both business and leisure travelers.
The new area complements two existing recreation spaces at the airport, expanding options for passengers seeking a quieter alternative to busy gate areas and cafés. With practical amenities like power outlets and flight monitors plus the added benefit of a mini library, the space is tailored for short stays between connections as well as longer waits.
Located within easy reach of boarding gates, the recreation area is intended for all travelers and is available without charge. Its design focuses on low-key comfort—soft lighting, greenery and ergonomic seating—helping to reduce stress and improve the overall waiting experience.
Munich Airport continues to develop passenger services that balance convenience and comfort. The addition of this third recreation area reflects an ongoing commitment to create pleasant, functional spaces where passengers can rest, work or read before their flights.
