Air Belgium Chooses Brussels South Charleroi Airport for Operations

Air Belgium, a new Belgian carrier, has announced direct services from Brussels South Airport to key destinations across Europe and Asia, including cities in China.

The airline chose Brussels South for its accessibility, efficient operations, high-quality service and competitive costs, as well as the airport’s potential to expand as an international gateway. Operating from Brussels South will also help ease congestion at Brussels Airport (BRU), which has experienced heavy traffic and crowding in recent years.

“The airport is well established and attracts millions of travelers, of whom a large share are international passengers and business travelers. We believe our customers will appreciate the excellent service, especially as Brussels South upgrades its infrastructure,” said Niky Terzakis, CEO of Air Belgium.

To accommodate Air Belgium’s initial fleet of four Airbus A340-300 aircraft, with deliveries beginning in February, the airport will adapt its facilities. A premium terminal area will be developed within Terminal Sud to serve business and premium passengers, featuring a full-service lounge. Construction is scheduled to start at the end of May.

Air Belgium plans to launch its inaugural flights later this month, with Hong Kong (HKG) announced as the first official long-haul destination.
