Discover Miami’s Luxury Resort Tennis Experience

Fisher Island Club in Miami has completed a major renovation of its tennis facilities, creating one of the few centers in the world to offer courts with all four Grand Slam playing surfaces. The upgrade reinforces the club’s reputation as a preferred practice and training destination for touring professionals and serious players.

The facility offers 18 courts, including two newly installed red clay courts designed to match the playing characteristics of those at the French Open. These red clay courts play about 20 percent slower and generate a higher bounce, while the soft surface reduces impact on players’ joints and provides a more forgiving footing.

In addition to the red clay courts, the tennis center features two DecoTurf cushion courts, similar to the hard courts used at the U.S. Open and Australian Open; two championship grass courts modeled on Wimbledon courts; and twelve Har-Tru green clay courts, the most common clay surface in the United States. This full range of surfaces allows players to practice and prepare for any major tournament condition without leaving the island.

Bernard Lackner, CEO of Fisher Island Club, emphasized the facility’s distinctive amenities: “We are extremely proud to offer one of the most advanced tennis facilities in the world. The added value of our ten-foot hedges that surround each court provide ultimate privacy, excellent depth perception, exceptional wind protection and a unique beauty rarely experienced at other tennis centers. It is no wonder that the Club’s Tennis Center has become a preferred practice and training destination for leading touring professionals from around the globe.”

The combination of varied surfaces, championship-grade court construction and thoughtful court-side landscaping creates a training environment that supports both recreational players and elite competitors. Guests and members can work on surface-specific footwork, adjust to different ball speeds and bounces, and prepare strategically for upcoming tournaments.

With these renovations, Fisher Island Club has strengthened its position as a world-class tennis destination in Miami, offering privacy, high-quality playing conditions and a rare opportunity to train across all major professional surfaces in a single location.
