Hilton Worldwide has announced the expansion of its African portfolio with plans to open a new property in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial and cultural capital. The company signed an agreement with long-term Nigerian partner Transcorp Hotels Ltd. to develop Transcorp Hilton Lagos on Glover Road in the Ikoyi district, a residential and commercial area conveniently located near Murtala Muhammed International Airport (LOS). The hotel is expected to open in mid-2016.
The new property will offer 350 guestrooms and suites designed for both business and leisure travelers. On-site facilities will include a fitness center, a spa, an outdoor swimming pool, a business center, two restaurants, two bars and versatile meeting and event spaces suitable for conferences and social gatherings. These amenities aim to meet the needs of Lagos’s growing international and domestic visitor base.
Transcorp Hilton Lagos will mark Hilton’s second collaboration with Transcorp in Nigeria, joining the established Transcorp Hilton Hotel Abuja. Located in the heart of Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory, the Abuja property sits approximately 40 minutes from Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (ABV) and has helped raise Hilton’s profile across the country.
Rob Palleschi, global head of Hilton Hotels & Resorts, said the success of the Abuja hotel has strengthened Hilton’s reputation among both local and international travelers. He expressed confidence that Transcorp Hilton Lagos will reinforce the brand’s position as a contemporary, design-forward leader in hospitality by combining smart design, innovative dining concepts and genuine service. The new Lagos hotel is intended to make travel easier and more enjoyable through thoughtful amenities and a commitment to the communities it serves.
The Lagos development underscores Hilton’s broader strategy to expand in key African markets, responding to rising demand for high-quality accommodations, meeting facilities and leisure services. By partnering with experienced local operators like Transcorp Hotels Ltd., Hilton aims to blend global standards with local insight to deliver consistent guest experiences across the region.
