Viking Launches 2019 Ocean and River Combo Cruises

Viking has unveiled its 2019 Ocean & River Voyages, offering travelers a seamless combination of river cruising through Europe and an ocean voyage to Scandinavia. The new option allows guests to explore iconic waterways aboard Viking’s signature longships, then continue the journey on one of the line’s ocean ships.

The highlighted Grand European & Viking Fjords itinerary debuts in May 2019. This connected voyage pairs a 15-day Grand European Tour cruise, which sails between Budapest and Amsterdam, with an eight-day Viking Shore & Fjords ocean segment. Together they form a 22-day itinerary that visits six countries and calls on 19 ports.

On the river portion, travelers will cruise the Danube into Austria’s scenic Wachau Valley, experience the castles and wine regions along Germany’s Rhine River, and enjoy the cultural sights and windmills of Amsterdam. After the river leg, guests disembark and board an ocean vessel for the Scandinavian segment, which includes a stop in the historic Norwegian fishing city of Bergen.

Included amenities on these combined voyages reflect Viking’s standard offerings: beer and wine served with lunch and dinner, priority or premium dining reservations, onboard Wi‑Fi, self-service laundry, access to the LivNordic Spa’s Thermal Suite, and 24-hour room service. These features are designed to make long, multi-segment journeys comfortable and convenient for guests.

Fares for the Grand European & Viking Fjords itinerary start at $8,548 per person. For travelers seeking an extended, curated experience that blends inland river scenery with coastal and fjord landscapes, this combined itinerary presents a comprehensive way to see a variety of European regions in a single trip.
