Cool Off at Boston’s New Ice Bar: What to Expect and Tips

The world’s largest permanent ice bar has opened in Boston this week, a first for New England. Located in Faneuil Hall Marketplace, Frost Ice Bar is built and furnished entirely from ice and maintained at a constant 21 degrees to preserve its sculpted environment.

Guests are provided with insulated capes and gloves to stay comfortable while moving through the space. Designed in collaboration with Ontario-based Icecultures Inc. and featuring detailed carvings by Brookline Ice Company, the venue includes an ornate ice bar, a chandelier, sculptures, lounge seating and ice-crafted artworks. Large-scale pieces and the centerpiece bar highlight Boston landmarks—such as the Swan Boats and the Zakim Memorial Bridge—rendered in ice.

“We enhanced the popular ice bar concept and created an experience that puts Boston on the map and showcases the city in an imaginative way,” said Cindy Brown, CEO of Frost Ice Bar. “We’re thrilled to call Boston home to the region’s first ice bar, welcoming New England residents and visitors to enjoy this unforgettable attraction.”

The drink menu features both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options with an emphasis on local, artisanal producers, fresh seasonal flavors and inventive pairings. Drinks are served in specialty glasses carved from ice, reinforcing the immersive, chilly atmosphere.

Tickets are available for purchase online or at the on-site ticket kiosk.
