Aeromexico received its first Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner in early August, becoming the first Mexican airline to operate the type. Commercial Dreamliner service will begin on October 1 with domestic flights from Mexico City (MEX) to Monterrey (MTY) and Tijuana (TIJ). The airline will also operate a series of Dreamliner flights between Mexico City and New York (JFK) from October 2 through October 13.
On October 14 Aeromexico will inaugurate its Mexico City–Tokyo Narita (NRT) route using the Dreamliner, with three weekly flights on that route. The carrier expects to take delivery of its second and third 787s in September and plans to use them to launch daily service between Mexico City and Paris (CDG) and to supplement flights to New York.
Aeromexico has placed an order for 19 Boeing 787-8 and 787-9 Dreamliners, which will be delivered over the coming years. The 787-8 aircraft in Aeromexico’s fleet will be configured in two classes with 243 seats: 32 in first class and 211 in economy. This fleet modernization aims to expand the airline’s long-haul network and offer passengers the improved comfort and efficiency associated with the Dreamliner.
