Four Seasons Hotel Toronto: Luxury Downtown Suites & Spa Experience

Arrival/Check-In: After a morning flight from Philadelphia, I reached Toronto and headed straight to the Four Seasons Hotel Toronto. My late-morning arrival coincided with the tail end of rush hour and some roadwork, so I arrived shortly after lunchtime. Check-in was smooth and welcoming; the front desk attendant was warm and professional. Although I arrived well before the usual check-in time, my room was ready. On the way to my room I paused to admire the tasteful holiday decorations around the lobby.

Guest Quarters: My superior room was spacious, featuring a king-sized bed with plush bedding, a broad granite bathroom, and plenty of workspace. The room opened into a small vestibule with the bathroom straight ahead. The bathroom included a large rainfall shower with a curtain rather than a door, a standalone tub, and generous counter space. Extra towels were provided and appreciated.

Across from the bathroom were closets, and the hallway led into the bedroom area. To the right stood a long dresser/credenza that housed the minibar and an espresso machine, with a 55-inch Ultra HD Smart TV mounted above. A desk faced the windows, though I preferred working from the comfortable armchair with my feet up. Electrical outlets were convenient and accessible. The bed was very comfortable — I sank into it and slept well — and two nightstands flanked it for convenience.

Services/Amenities: Café Boulud, led by Chef Daniel Boulud, offers cuisine inspired by the chef’s family meals in Lyon and operates for breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner. I had breakfast there and noticed it attracts business travelers meeting in the morning; the breakfast potatoes were particularly good. D|Bar, located beneath Café Boulud, provides a more casual menu and a selection of cocktails, beer and wines.

The hotel’s fitness facility occupies the eighth floor and is open 24 hours with room-key access, featuring free weights and cardio equipment; I intended to visit but didn’t make it during this stay. The Spa at Four Seasons Toronto was temporarily relocated while the property refreshed guest areas and the pool; spa services such as massages, facials and body treatments are offered when the space reopens.

Top Takeaways:

◆ Room service arrived promptly and was beautifully presented; I ordered a Caesar salad and chicken noodle soup and found the presentation particularly impressive for hotel room dining.

◆ Situated in Yorkville, the hotel offers easy access to some of Toronto’s best shopping and dining. My visit was brief and busy, but the hotel’s convenient location stood out during arrival and departure.

◆ I appreciated the rainfall showerhead, but the shower in my room allowed water to reach the bathroom floor, which was a disappointment.
