As a leader in luxury all-inclusive resorts, Paradisus by Meliá has steadily expanded its environmental and social responsibility efforts, integrating sustainable practices across its properties. The brand is committed to reducing its environmental footprint and engaging guests in meaningful ways that support local communities and conservation initiatives.
Across properties in the Dominican Republic and Mexico, Paradisus by Meliá adopted a brand-wide policy to eliminate single-use plastics. This initiative removes plastic bottles, cups, bags, straws and coasters from more than 370 hotels across more than 40 countries within the Meliá Hotels International portfolio. Phasing out single-use plastics is a practical first step toward reducing waste and promoting a cleaner environment for both guests and local communities.
To further minimize resource consumption, Paradisus by Meliá is transitioning guestrooms to digital information systems. Instead of printed directories and paper materials, guests can access important information—such as hotel services, activity schedules, FAQs and menus—directly through the in-room TV. This move reduces paper waste while keeping guests informed and connected.

Paradisus by Meliá also implements community-focused recycling and hygiene programs. In the Dominican Republic the Soap for Hope initiative collects used soap from resort guestrooms, sanitizes and remanufactures it, and distributes the renewed bars to local communities. This program reduces hotel waste, educates community members about soap production and supports public health through hygiene education. Since the program began in September 2018, Paradisus properties in the Dominican Republic have delivered roughly 2,000 bars of soap to communities in need.
In Baja California Sur, Paradisus Los Cabos emphasizes wildlife protection through its Welcome to Life conservation program. The project focuses on safeguarding native species such as the Least Tern and sea turtles—including Leatherback, Black and Olive Ridley turtles—while offering guests the chance to participate in hands-on conservation activities. As one of only three hotels in the region authorized to run a sea turtle conservation program, Paradisus Los Cabos engages guests in meaningful experiences, from monitoring nesting activity with GPS to observing hatchlings being released, helping visitors connect with local conservation efforts.
By integrating plastic reduction, digital guest services, waste-reduction initiatives and wildlife conservation, Paradisus by Meliá demonstrates how luxury hospitality can embrace sustainability. These programs reduce environmental impact, support local communities and offer guests purposeful opportunities to contribute to conservation and social responsibility during their stay.
