Digital Shopping Arrives at Frankfurt Airport: Guide to Online Retail & Pickup

Lufthansa and Fraport have teamed up to introduce a new shopping experience for passengers at Frankfurt Airport. In select Lufthansa lounges, travelers can now browse and purchase items from retailers across the airport using iPads provided by the airline.

The range of products includes gourmet foods, clothing, and essential travel accessories. Once an order is placed from the lounge iPad, items are collected from the relevant shop and delivered to the passenger in the lounge—typically within 30 minutes—so travelers can relax while their purchases arrive.

Plans call for the service to grow soon, adding more participating retailers and extending functionality beyond lounge shopping. Future enhancements will let passengers view restaurant menus on iPads positioned at check-in and security, place orders in advance, and have meals delivered to the departure gate. This will enable travelers to enjoy freshly ordered food immediately at the gate or to take it onboard for their flight.

These new features complement Lufthansa’s existing retail options, such as the onboard shopping service available on long-haul flights that land in Frankfurt. That service allows customers to buy items during the flight and pick them up upon arrival at the gate.

The collaboration between Lufthansa and Fraport aims to streamline the airport experience by combining digital convenience with prompt in-terminal delivery, giving passengers more ways to shop and dine without disrupting their travel plans.
