The 240-acre estate that comprises The Dorchester Collection’s Coworth Park Hotel and Spa sits adjacent to Windsor Great Park, just over a half-hour drive from London. Set in the village of Sunningdale and close to the world-famous Ascot racecourse, the property features an outstanding equestrian center offering riding lessons and activities for beginners and experienced riders alike.
Within the manor’s lower floor, refined public rooms such as the Summer Room and Winter Drawing Room look out over the formal grounds and gardens and provide an elegant setting for afternoon tea. The hotel’s public spaces and restaurants showcase original art throughout: a tall branching bronze tree, specially commissioned paintings and the graceful Copper Oaks Leaves chandelier forged in Scotland are among the highlights on display. A regular speaker series brings artists and leading voices to the hotel, with past guests including prominent U.K. interior designer Martin Hulbert.
The estate has a distinguished history of hosting aristocracy and royalty. The stone manor house was once home to Galen Weston, the retail magnate behind Selfridges and Fortnum & Mason. Weston established the first polo grounds as well as Coworth Park Village and the stables that housed his polo ponies. After an extensive restoration, Coworth Park reopened in 2010 as the eighth property in the Dorchester Collection.
Guest suites combine period charm with contemporary comforts. Many feature large marble bathrooms with copper roll-top soaking tubs, tall floor-to-ceiling windows that frame pastoral views, original artwork, fresh flowers and generous living and working areas designed for relaxation and productivity.
Dining at Coworth Park reflects the estate’s country setting and seasonal bounty. The Barn, a converted outbuilding a short walk from the main house, emphasizes the best local dairy, produce, jams, honeys and meats. The casually elevated menu is served in a warm space centered on a handsome stone fireplace.
The spa occupies its own partly submerged building topped with a living green roof and broad windows that admit abundant natural light. The lower level features a heated indoor pool edged with tall amethyst stones and accompanied by underwater music, an aromatic steam room, a sun terrace and a modern gym. On the upper level, a comprehensive menu of healing treatments, massages and bespoke skincare rituals is offered in tranquil treatment rooms.
The combination of expansive parkland, elegant interiors, curated art, equestrian facilities and a serene spa experience makes Coworth Park a distinctive country retreat close to London yet firmly rooted in the traditions of English rural hospitality.
