Munich Airport brings a Hawaiian atmosphere to the Munich Airport Center this summer with its Surf & Style surfing event. Open daily and free to attend from 3:00–8:15 p.m. through Aug. 24, the attraction centers on a large stationary wave pool where visitors can watch skilled riders or try surfing themselves.
The facility supplies boards, wetsuits and experienced instructors who guide groups of up to 10 people in 45‑minute sessions. A grandstand seats up to 500 spectators, and the venue is laid out with lounge chairs, palm trees and a cocktail bar to enhance the relaxed, beach-like environment.
For younger participants, Munich Airport offers three-day surf camps designed to introduce and develop surfing skills. These camps include access to the surfing basin, professional supervision and meals and drinks. The cost is approximately $20, making it an affordable option for families seeking active summer activities.
Highlighting the program is a Stationary Wave Riding competition on Aug. 9 and 10 that will pit Munich’s top urban surfers against international river-surfing athletes. The competition brings a high-energy element to the event and showcases a variety of riding styles on the stationary wave.
The Surf & Style event creates a casual, spectator-friendly setting that appeals to both beginners and experienced surfers. With equipment and instruction provided on site, visitors can easily try the sport without prior experience, while fans enjoy comfortable viewing areas and on-site refreshments.
