United Airlines Rolls Out Major App Enhancements for Travelers

The United Airlines mobile app has been updated with several improved features designed to simplify travel management. The latest release enables users to change or cancel flights directly within the app, add United MileagePlus Club cards to Apple Wallet, and access boarding passes for 19 partner carriers.

“Every day 800,000 customers rely on our mobile app to book reservations, view flight statuses, check in and access a variety of other handy travel tools we’ve made available through our app,” said Linda Jojo, chief digital officer at United. “We’re constantly making updates to the app that help our customers manage their travel with us at the touch of a finger and access even more information about their flights as quickly and conveniently as possible.”

Users can now cancel or change flights from the reservation details screen. A subset of reservations purchased through third-party sellers still require changes on united.com; additional support for more reservation types will be rolled out in the coming weeks.

Members can add their United MileagePlus Club cards to Apple Wallet so the card is readily available when booking or checking into United Clubs. The electronic card, combined with a same-day boarding pass, serves as proof of membership for lounge access.

The app also includes a Track My Bags feature, currently in beta, which allows travelers to monitor their luggage throughout the journey. The tool reports key status updates such as when a bag is loaded onto a flight, unloaded, or available at baggage claim.

These enhancements aim to give travelers more control and transparency during every stage of their trip, consolidating essential functions into a single, convenient app experience.
