Founded in 2004 by Christine and Michael Reiterer, Chalet Mirabell is a five-star hotel with 70 rooms and suites. From the beginning they focused on creating a welcoming atmosphere that appeals to families and adults alike. In 2008 the Reiterers expanded the property, adding 30 upscale rooms and enhancing the guest experience with new relaxation areas: a dedicated room of tranquility, an alpine lounge and a heated natural bathing pond.

“Hospitality and a love of honest, down-to-earth South Tyrolean cuisine were part of our upbringing,” Michael Reiterer explains. “We both grew up working in our parents’ hotels and learned early on how to care for guests. Even though we ran a café on a lovely Meran terrace for twelve years, the dream of owning our own hotel never left us.”

Christine recalls that despite the increased responsibilities, expanding the hotel was a source of joy. The couple also acquired an adjacent 43,000-square-foot parcel after challenging negotiations, allowing them to broaden the estate and its offerings.

“Thanks to the dedication of our loyal and hardworking team, we rose through the ranks of South Tyrol’s top hotels,” says Christine. “We remain committed to maintaining our standing on ‘best-of’ lists while meeting future challenges and continuing to develop the property.”

The grounds now include one of South Tyrol’s largest natural swimming areas, a 64,000-square-foot spa and a 107,000-square-foot garden. These spaces support a relaxed, intimate wellness offering that serves a wide range of guests. Dining at Chalet Mirabell is highly regarded: the on-site restaurants have attracted praise from Gault Millau and the Michelin Guide. Separate dining and activity areas accommodate guests traveling with children and those who prefer adults-only spaces.

Menus emphasize products from local farms, organic meat from the village butcher and herbs grown in the hotel’s own garden. A vegan menu is always available, and children’s selections are crafted to appeal to younger palates.

Accommodation options include mountain villas ranging from 1,722 to 3,261 square feet, each with a private pool, sauna, designer kitchen and terrace. The hotel offers ten suite categories and varied room configurations for families, couples or groups of friends. All rooms provide panoramic mountain views and interiors that blend Alpine warmth with Mediterranean touches.

Guests can enjoy complimentary mountain bike rental, paid e-bike options, and experiences with native Haflinger horses, including rides and guided tours of the region. These activities make Chalet Mirabell a versatile base for outdoor exploration as well as rest and rejuvenation.
