Autism on the Seas is a leading organization dedicated to supporting travelers with autism and other developmental disabilities. Recently the organization established the Autism on the Seas Foundation, a nonprofit designed to help special-needs families who face financial barriers to travel.
The foundation provides varying levels of financial assistance to parents, guardians, children, adults and siblings who wish to join cruises staffed by Autism on the Seas professionals. These staff members ensure appropriate accommodations and personalized support for passengers with autism or other developmental disabilities. Available cruise itineraries come from major lines, including Royal Caribbean, Norwegian Cruise Line, Disney Cruise Line and others, offering a variety of destinations and on-board programs tailored to special-needs travelers.
“Since we launched our company in 2006, our mission has been to make vacation dreams come true for a population of often-overlooked travelers—families with children or loved ones who have special needs. With the launch of our foundation and our kickoff fundraiser, we can help make dreams come true for families that want, need and deserve a vacation, but can’t manage it on their own financially,” said Mike Sobbel, president of Autism on the Seas.
The Autism on the Seas Foundation has launched a Holiday “Fun”draiser to support its assistance programs. This fundraiser is made possible through a partnership with Fat Brain Toys, which has pledged to donate a portion of sales from designated purchases made during the campaign period, helping to fund travel grants for special-needs families.
The foundation’s goal is to reduce financial obstacles and expand access to travel experiences that provide relaxation, family bonding and new opportunities for social and recreational engagement. By combining experienced staff support on cruises with targeted financial aid, the Autism on the Seas Foundation aims to create safe, enjoyable and inclusive vacation options for families who might otherwise be unable to travel.
Families interested in applying for assistance, learning about upcoming cruises with special-needs accommodations, or supporting the foundation’s fundraising efforts are encouraged to contact Autism on the Seas directly for details about eligibility, application timelines and available sailings.
