EL AL Israel Airlines has announced new routes and a revised economy-class pricing structure for flights to Europe.
Later this year the carrier will launch non-stop service between Tel Aviv (TLV) and San Francisco (SFO), operating three times weekly using its new Boeing 787 Dreamliner fleet.
Starting April 30, EL AL will put on sale three distinct economy fare types—Lite, Classic and Flex—for travel after Oct. 14. The change is intended to give passengers clearer options and more control over price and services.
The updated economy fares coincide with a refresh of onboard seating and amenities. Both economy and business-class seats are scheduled for replacement, with USB power outlets to be installed at every seat across all cabins. In addition, Wi‑Fi capability will be introduced gradually across the airline’s fleet.
David Maimon, EL AL’s president and CEO, explained the rationale behind the changes: “EL AL continues to innovate while adapting to growing competition on flights to Europe among both leisure and business travelers. For leisure travelers, price is a critical factor, while business travelers value flexibility, schedules that suit business needs, and premium service. Our new pricing model for European economy routes maintains high standards while offering transparent choices so passengers can select the package that best fits their needs. The business-class offering will not change.”
Fare details are summarized as follows:
- Lite: Allows one carry-on bag and includes onboard food and beverage service.
- Classic: Includes one carry-on, seat selection options, food and beverage service, and one checked bag.
- Flex: Offers the greatest flexibility with unlimited changes and cancellations, two carry-on bags, expanded seat selection options, food and beverages, checked baggage, and additional services to be announced.
By separating fares into clear tiers, EL AL aims to serve both price-sensitive leisure travelers and business customers who prioritize flexibility and convenience, while upgrading cabin comfort and onboard connectivity across its fleet.
