Arrival/Check-In: I arrived in Hong Kong late in the evening after a delayed flight and was eager to check in. The InterContinental Hong Kong, a landmark hotel on the Kowloon waterfront, was easy to reach by cab. The lobby was calm and inviting, and reception took care of me promptly. Because I had booked a club room, a concierge escorted me to the suite, completed a quick check-in, explained the room features, and brought a welcome cup of tea—exactly what I needed after a long journey.
Guest Quarters: Entering my executive suite on the fourth floor, I was struck by how close Victoria Harbour felt. Floor-to-ceiling windows provided an expansive view, and the room layout emphasized that panorama. A cream-colored living area on the right created a comfortable seating zone, while a large desk positioned in the center faced the couches and the harbor, offering uninterrupted sightlines and multiple universal outlets for my iPhone, iPad, and laptop.
Behind the desk and to the left was a king-sized bed; I slept a full 12 hours on it, which tells you everything about its comfort. A long marble cabinet ran the length of the back wall, giving plenty of surface and storage space. The flat-screen television sat atop that cabinet. Equally impressive was the closet-and-bathroom suite. The closet itself was roomy, with abundant hanger space and floor-to-ceiling mirrors. It opened into a generous green marble bathroom featuring dual sinks, well-lit mirrors, a sizable standalone glass-and-marble shower with a bench, and a separate spa tub—an inviting layout for either a quick refresh or a long soak.
Services/Amenities: Club access was a highlight. Located on the second floor, the club caters to business and leisure travelers who want to work, eat, or relax in comfort. The food and layout were straightforward rather than elaborate, but the harbor view more than made up for simplicity. Club privileges also included complimentary WiFi for up to four devices.
The 24-hour fitness center was bright, with warm wood floors and an open feel. Cardio machines were well maintained and plentiful enough to handle a morning crowd without long waits. Dining options on the property include two Michelin-starred restaurants—Spoon and The Steak House—as well as Nobu, which offers high-quality sushi and Japanese cuisine.
The Experience: The InterContinental Hong Kong makes an excellent base for travelers seeking central location, excellent harbor views, and attentive service. It sits close to upscale shopping and key transport links, making exploration convenient. For a pleasant outing, take an early-morning stroll along the Avenue of the Stars and pause for a photo with the famous Bruce Lee statue.
