Arrival/Check-in: I arrived just after midnight on a Thursday. Despite the late hour, the front-desk staff were attentive and friendly, and check-in was efficient. There were only a few employees visible in the lobby, and bell service was not available to assist with my bags. (18/20)
Guest Quarters: The Langham Boston occupies the former Federal Reserve Bank building and offers more than 300 rooms. My room was generous in size with two walls of windows and attractive views of the Boston skyline. The décor was bright and the bed—the hotel’s signature Langham Blissful Sleep mattress—was very comfortable. Furnishings included a sofa, armoire, dresser and bedside table, all with ample storage. The work desk was large enough for a laptop and paperwork without dominating the space. Complimentary toiletries were high quality; the room also featured a coffeemaker, minibar and a safe suitable for a laptop. Internet access was available for a daily fee. On arrival I found fresh pastries and chocolates awaiting me, and the hotel provides nightly turndown service. The bathroom could have benefited from more countertop space, but otherwise the room was comfortable and well appointed. During a property tour I also saw the Presidential Suite, an elegant, well-furnished accommodation that can be reserved with butler service. (14/15)
Services/Amenities: Café Fleuri is the hotel’s full-service restaurant and a popular destination at lunch, drawing business crowds for creative takes on New England favorites such as Chatham cod and Cape clam bourride. The restaurant highlights playful local touches, such as a “Boston Baked Beans Lunch” featuring a Kobe beef hot dog. From September through May, the weekend chocolate bar is a standout: an extensive selection of chocolate desserts turns brunch into a memorable indulgence. The Sunday Jazz Brunch pairs an extensive menu with live music from a jazz trio. Café Fleuri also offers a thoughtfully designed pregnancy menu with healthier options for expectant mothers. For evening drinks, Julien Bar is a local favorite, known for its extensive martini selection. The hotel also includes a full-service fitness center, an indoor pool, and comprehensive event and conference facilities. (45/45)
The Experience: The Langham’s location is excellent for exploring Boston’s main attractions, and the hotel’s refined, calm atmosphere makes it easy to relax during your stay. (19/20)
