Iceland’s flagship carrier, Icelandair, is expanding its North American network with a new seasonal route to Montreal. The service will mark the airline’s first gateway in Quebec and its 16th destination in North America, linking Keflavik International Airport with Montréal–Trudeau International Airport.
Starting May 19, 2016, Icelandair will operate four weekly non-stop flights between Reykjavik’s Keflavik hub and Montreal through November 8, 2016. The approximately five-hour flight will offer convenient connections from Iceland to more than 20 destinations across Scandinavia, the United Kingdom and continental Europe, giving travelers straightforward access to European routes.
“Montreal will be our fifth Canadian gateway, opening the skies to Europe from Canada’s second-largest city,” said Birkir Holm Guðnason, CEO of Icelandair. “Adding Montreal expands travel options for Canadians from coast to coast and provides both business and leisure travelers an attractive alternative for journeys to Iceland and onward to Europe.”
This seasonal link responds to growing demand for transatlantic travel and positions Montreal as a convenient departure point for passengers flying to multiple European cities via Icelandair’s hub. With the carrier’s network of short connection times and a broad route map, travelers can reach an array of destinations in northern and western Europe with a single stop in Reykjavik.
The Montreal service also complements Icelandair’s existing Canadian network, which includes several other gateways across the country. By offering new routings and timing designed for both tourism and business travel, the airline aims to boost passenger choices and strengthen transatlantic connectivity for the region.
Passengers booking the seasonal Montreal flights can expect Icelandair’s typical onboard services and the option to combine flights with stopovers in Iceland, a popular feature for those wishing to add a few days in Reykjavik or explore the island’s natural attractions en route to Europe.
