Hone your spellcasting and potion-making skills at the Wizardry School in Manchester, England, on Feb. 23. The event takes place at The Monastery, a striking heritage building that was once named among the world’s 100 most endangered sites. The full-day program will accommodate 250 students — Muggles welcome — as The Monastery is temporarily reimagined as The Monastery of Magic with a curriculum featuring Wand Dueling, Potion Making, Herbology, and the Secrets Behind the Magic.
Participants will sign a Charter of Responsible Wizardry before joining interactive classes led by experienced Wizard Masters trained in traditional techniques. The day includes a lunch in the Grand Hall, evoking the atmosphere of the dining hall from the Warner Bros. Harry Potter films, and four hands-on magical classes. Each student will receive a hand-lathed wooden wand to keep.
The day concludes with a graduation ceremony in the Great Nave, where a performer with a connection to the Harry Potter film series will present certificates. Adults who prefer a more relaxed visit can spend the afternoon exploring the historic building and enjoying a traditional afternoon tea in The Monastery’s Victorian Pantry. Additional dates may be scheduled in the future. The ticket price for the Feb. 23 session is £99 (around $127).
