Vanilla Airlines Launches the World’s Most Competitive Route

Vanilla Airlines has added a competitive new link between Japan and Taiwan, joining several other Asian carriers on one of the region’s busiest short-haul routes. The Tokyo-based carrier will become the 11th airline to offer nonstop service between Kansai International Airport (Osaka) and Taoyuan International Airport (Taipei).

This Osaka–Taipei route marks Vanilla’s first operation from Kansai; until now the airline’s network has centered on Tokyo’s Narita International Airport. The new schedule runs daily and varies slightly by season. From late April through mid-September, flights depart Osaka at 2:35 a.m. and arrive in Taipei at 4:30 a.m. Return flights leave Taipei at 9:50 p.m. and arrive in Osaka at 1:35 a.m. From mid-September onward, departure and arrival times shift by about one hour.

Vanilla’s introduction of daily service increases the number of carriers connecting these two cities to 11. Several Asian airlines already operate the route, with China Airlines offering the highest frequency—26 weekly flights—making it a leading choice for travelers between Osaka and Taipei. The addition of Vanilla Airlines provides more options for passengers seeking early-morning departures or late-evening returns, expanding capacity and schedule flexibility on this well-traveled corridor.
