Emirates is updating the business- and first-class lounge on its Airbus A380 superjumbo aircraft. The carrier unveiled the refreshed design at ITB Berlin, the global tourism trade fair, held March 8–12.
Sir Tim Clark, President of Emirates, explained that the redesign draws inspiration from private yacht cabins. “We have increased the seating space and created a more intimate environment that encourages passengers to socialize or enjoy our lounge service,” he said.
The familiar horseshoe layout remains, but the lounge will feature expanded seating along the windows. Each seating area includes a table and a view, with the overall space able to accommodate up to 26 passengers at once, including eight seated, according to the airline.
Interior updates emphasize a lighter, champagne-toned palette complemented by glossy dark wood trim. Practical and comfort-focused changes include soundproof curtains to separate the lounge from adjacent cabin areas, soft ambient lighting options, and new window blinds with integrated LED mood lighting. The lounge also gets upgraded audio systems and a 55-inch LCD screen for flight information or entertainment.
Installation of the new lounge is already under way on the first A380, with the refreshed cabin scheduled to enter service in July.
