Delta Launches New Nonstop New York to Athens Flights — Tickets On Sale

Delta Air Lines has launched non-stop service between Athens (ATH) and New York (JFK) for the summer 2016 season, with tickets now on sale. The airline will operate the route five times weekly beginning March 27, 2016, then increase frequency to daily service on May 24 and to two daily flights beginning May 27. At the height of summer travel, Delta and its joint-venture partners Air France-KLM and Alitalia will together provide more than 7,500 weekly seats linking Greece and the United States.

“Our investment in our New York-JFK hub means we offer greater connectivity for customers traveling to the United States and beyond from Greece,” said Nat Pieper, senior vice president for Europe, Middle East and Africa at Delta Air Lines. The carrier emphasized that the U.S. remains one of the leading source markets for visitors to Greece. By commencing service earlier than in previous seasons and increasing weekly seat capacity for next summer, Delta aims to meet rising demand for travel and to support inbound tourism to Greece.

Onboard, the Athens–New York flights will feature Delta One service with fully flat-bed seats and aisle access for each passenger, delivering comfort for long-haul travelers. The premium cabin will also offer regionally inspired dining selections and Westin Heavenly Inflight Bedding to enhance rest and relaxation during the journey.

Passengers can expect the expanded schedule to improve connection options through Delta’s JFK hub, giving travelers from Greece easier access to domestic U.S. destinations and onward international connections. The increased frequency during peak months is intended to accommodate a mix of leisure and business travelers and to support the seasonal surge in transatlantic travel.

Delta’s announcement reflects a broader focus on strengthening transatlantic networks and enhancing product offerings on key long-haul routes. The combination of increased seat capacity, elevated onboard amenities in Delta One, and closer coordination with partner airlines is positioned to deliver a more competitive and comfortable travel experience for passengers flying between Athens and New York.

Travelers planning summer trips are encouraged to book early to secure preferred schedules and cabin options, particularly during the busiest travel weeks. With the upgrade to daily and then double-daily frequencies, flyers can expect greater flexibility in departure times and improved choices for connections through JFK.
