Emirates to Launch New A380 Route: What Travelers Need to Know

Emirates will expand its Airbus A380 network this summer by adding Mumbai to the list of destinations served by the double-deck aircraft. Beginning in July, the airline plans to operate an A380 on one of its existing daily flights between Dubai International Airport and Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. This move follows recent regulatory changes that allowed the A380 to return to Indian skies earlier this year.

Emirates’ decision makes it the second carrier to schedule regular A380 services to India, after Singapore Airlines started A380 flights between Singapore Changi Airport and Mumbai on May 30. The return of the A380 to India marks an important expansion for operators and offers passengers increased capacity and the onboard amenities associated with the world’s largest passenger jet.

In addition to Mumbai, several other Indian airports have been certified to handle A380 operations. These include Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru, and Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad, enabling airlines to consider more A380 routes across the country as demand and infrastructure allow.
