Join Wyndham to Restore and Protect Our National Parks

Last month, Wyndham introduced a nationwide conservation program called Adventure Responsibly, inviting travelers and the public to join national park clean-up efforts. The initiative will host four clean-up events across the country, aiming not only to remove litter and debris but also to raise awareness about the importance of protecting these natural areas.

“Travel to our most precious natural wonders is at an all-time high,” said John Henderson, brand leader, Travelodge by Wyndham. “Unfortunately, as crowds increase, the infrastructure and resources of these amazing destinations becomes increasingly strained, making them more susceptible to pollution and degradation. That’s why initiatives like Adventure Responsibly, and the growing support of volunteers, are needed now more than ever.”

Travelers can sign up for two September clean-up events: Bear Mountain State Park in Rockland County, New York, on Sept. 5, and Yellowstone National Park in Gardiner, Montana, on Sept. 9. Events will take place rain or shine. Sign up here.

“Many people don’t realize how simple it can be to organize a cleanup or how grateful parks are for local community support. We want to change that,” Henderson added. “There’s an extra benefit: whether you join with family, friends, or both, volunteering can often provide free park access for the day while, more importantly, allowing you to give back and make a meaningful impact.”

The Adventure Responsibly program emphasizes education alongside action. Volunteers receive guidance on proper waste removal, recycling practices, and ways to minimize their impact while enjoying outdoor spaces. By combining practical outreach with hands-on cleanups, the initiative seeks to encourage long-term stewardship of parks and inspire ongoing community involvement.

Participants are encouraged to prepare for varying weather and terrain, wear sturdy footwear, and bring reusable water bottles and gloves if available. Organizers typically provide trash bags, safety briefings, and any necessary tools. These events also offer opportunities to learn about local wildlife, habitat preservation, and how individual choices contribute to broader conservation goals.

Beyond the immediate benefits of cleaner trails and picnic areas, community cleanups help protect wildlife and preserve scenic value, making outdoor recreation more enjoyable for everyone. Volunteer efforts can reduce hazards to animals, prevent microplastic and chemical pollution from entering waterways, and maintain habitats for native plants and species.

Wyndham’s Adventure Responsibly initiative aligns with a broader trend of hospitality brands promoting sustainable travel and community engagement. By facilitating accessible volunteer opportunities, the program hopes to foster a culture of responsible outdoor recreation where visitors leave natural areas better than they found them.

Those interested in participating should register in advance, as spaces may be limited. Volunteers of all experience levels are welcome, and organizers recommend arriving early to receive instructions and safety information. Whether you’re a frequent park visitor or new to volunteering, joining a clean-up event offers a practical way to support conservation while enjoying time outdoors.
