Holland America Announces Luxury Suite Upgrades and Enhancements

As part of a $300 million brand enhancement initiative, Holland America Line is upgrading its top staterooms with refreshed furnishings, updated décor and enhanced amenities across all suites on the Signature-, Vista- and R-Class ships. The first vessels to receive the suite transformation will be ms Eurodam and ms Oosterdam, followed by ms Nieuw Amsterdam, ms Westerdam, ms Zuiderdam and ms Noordam. In addition, ms Amsterdam, ms Rotterdam, ms Volendam and ms Zaandam will be updated as they enter scheduled dry docks over the coming years.

“Our suites represent the highest level of comfort and refinement, and these new amenities and upgrades will ensure suite guests continue to enjoy exceptional cruise accommodations,” said Orlando Ashford, president of Holland America Line. “We maintain a continuous program to keep our fleet refreshed, and scheduled dry docks allow us to implement enhancements that elevate the overall Holland America Line experience.”

The suite renovations focus on both style and functionality. The main living area will be refreshed with a new sofa, updated lounge chairs and a redesigned desk chair. Contemporary visual updates include a new headboard design, modern carpet and updated wall coverings to create a more current, inviting atmosphere. Soft goods such as a privacy curtain, new drapery, a bed runner and a bed skirt will introduce subtle, elegant touches.

Surfaces and finishes are also being upgraded: a quartz stone top will be fitted on the desk, dresser, nightstands and makeup vanity, and new vanity lighting will enhance both form and function. These material upgrades are intended to give suites a cohesive, upscale look while improving durability and ease of maintenance.

Electronic and lighting improvements are designed to make the staterooms more convenient for today’s travelers. Each suite will gain a USB outlet integrated into the bed’s headboard and bedside LED reading lights for comfortable late-night reading. Electrical outlets will be upgraded to better support guests’ devices, and a lighted closet rod will simplify wardrobe selection in dim lighting.

A new fully interactive television system will be installed in each suite, offering complimentary movies on demand and streamlined access to daily schedules and shipboard information. Guests will be able to view restaurant descriptions, spa menus and billing details directly from their TV screens, making it easier to plan and manage on-board activities.

Together, these design, material and technology updates aim to enhance comfort, convenience and the overall aesthetic across Holland America Line’s suite accommodations. By combining contemporary décor, thoughtful soft goods, quality finishes and modern electronics, the line is reinforcing its commitment to a refined cruise experience for suite guests.
