Christmas Market Cruises on Alsace Canals with CroisiEurope Barge

Ready for a festive shopping getaway along the Rhine? Spend three nights and four days aboard the MS Madeline, part of the CroisiEurope fleet of hotel barges, as she navigates the Alsatian canals on a Christmas market itinerary. This round-trip route departs from and returns to Colmar, with charming port calls in Kunheim, Kaysersberg and Riquewihr.

The cruise begins with a relaxing canal passage from Colmar to Kunheim, where you can savor traditional Alsatian gingerbread while taking in winter landscapes. In Kaysersberg, wander the seasonal displays and admire authentic Alsatian decorations that brighten the town during the holidays. Then, visit Riquewihr, a medieval village lined with cobblestone streets and half-timbered houses. There, explore winemakers’ shops and local stalls that create a picturesque backdrop for the town’s Christmas market.

Returning to Colmar, the program includes a variety of onboard activities to round out the experience. Once ashore, take a guided stroll through Little Venice, where canals thread between brightly painted, decorated houses. Stop at the Choco-Story chocolate museum for a rich cup of hot chocolate, then browse the town’s Christmas marketplace for decorations, housewares, gifts and regional culinary specialties.

Evening entertainment onboard features live music, storytelling and an end-of-cruise gala to celebrate the holiday spirit. Upcoming departures are scheduled for December 12 and December 16, with fares starting at $1,185 per person. The price covers all meals and beverages, shore excursions, port fees and emergency/repatriation insurance.
