The aircraft offers 21 Premium Economy seats and 30 Flagship® Business seats with fully lie-flat beds and all-aisle access, giving travelers clear choices for a more comfortable journey.
American Airlines is the first U.S. carrier to introduce this distinct Premium Economy product. Positioned between Flagship® Business and Main Cabin, it provides an attractive middle option for passengers who want more space and amenities without the full business-class price.
Premium Economy seats feature leather upholstery, 38 inches of legroom (seat pitch) and extendable foot, leg and head rests for enhanced comfort on long flights. Passengers also benefit from priority boarding and upgraded onboard amenities designed to improve the overall travel experience.
Each Premium Economy seat on the 787-9 includes AC power outlets and USB ports, plus a personal seatback entertainment system offering live television, games and nearly 300 movies, including recent releases. Customers receive noise-reducing headphones, amenity kits, enhanced meal service and complimentary wine, beer and spirits. The fare also includes one free checked bag.
Premium Economy is available on select routes: DFW–São Paulo (GRU), Madrid (MAD), Paris (CDG) and Seoul (ICN) beginning May 4; Los Angeles (LAX) to Tokyo Narita (NRT) beginning August 5; and a limited-time offering from Chicago O’Hare (ORD) to Paris (CDG) beginning July 5. American Airlines will expand Premium Economy to additional routes and aircraft throughout the year.
