CN Tower unveils the most significant renovations in its 42-year history, enhancing accessibility, views and visitor amenities while preserving the tower’s iconic character.
The upgrade introduces a new glass floor directly above the original, creating a dramatic two-tier vertical viewing experience 1,136 feet above ground. In addition, full-height floor-to-ceiling “window walls” have been installed around the observation level, providing uninterrupted panoramic views of the city and lake. These window walls also improve accessibility, allowing visitors with mobility limitations to enjoy expansive sightlines without needing to navigate to the existing glass floor.
Visitors will also find three new on-site dining options that expand culinary choices on the observation level and elsewhere in the facility. An additional event space has been added that can accommodate up to 800 guests, making the tower more flexible as a venue for conferences, receptions and special occasions.
“It’s essential that CN Tower’s renovation and upgrades tie into our commitment to accessibility,” said John McBain, president and CEO of Canada Lands Company, the tower’s owner and operator. “The window walls and new glass floor take the visitor experience to the next level and ensure it remains thrilling and unique among the world’s greatest towers.”
To complement the physical upgrades, CN Tower launched a free Viewfinder app for mobile devices. The app offers day and night 360-degree imagery of the surrounding area and identifies more than 90 local landmarks. It is available in English, French, Spanish, Korean and Mandarin, helping a broad range of visitors better understand and appreciate the skyline.
“We are thrilled to introduce an all-new observation experience, including the new CN Tower Viewfinder App, as part of our 42nd anniversary,” said Neil Jones, COO of CN Tower. “The CN Tower enjoyed record-breaking attendance last year, but we believe it is important to keep innovating. As a national icon, the experiences we offer our guests should always be at world-class levels. We feel this renovation accomplishes that goal.”
The renovations balance enhanced visitor experiences with practical accessibility and event-hosting improvements, ensuring the CN Tower remains a leading attraction for sightseers, locals and event planners alike.
